One of the many series inspired by the artist's travels, as captured in these lines from a poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson:

“I am a part of all that I have met; yet all experience is an arch wherethrough gleams that untravelled world”

Variations on the theme of the arch are employed as they flirt with the ambiguities of two and three dimensional space.  Inspired by Byzantine architecture, the arch is also symbolic of passageways as we exited one millennium, and entered another.
